Garner's playing is, as always, powerful and tasteful, the recordings are of decent quality, and the accompanying musicians are among those for whom I have a lot of admiration. It would be both difficult and unfair for me to describe the music. First, the sound samples on this page will convey the essence of each track along with an indication of the recording quality. Second, anything I could say would be subjective and reflect only my personal tastes. Erroll is backed by John Simmons on bass and Shadow Wilson on drums. Tracks 9 through 13 were recorded by the same personnel for Columbia in NYC on October 7, 1950. The final tracks, 14 through 16, were also recorded for Columbia by the same personnel on January 11, 1951.
