Pirates of the Mississippi is an American country music duo composed of guitarist/vocalist Rich Alves and lead singer Bill McCorvey. They are both founding members of the re-established group, which began in 1987 as a five-piece band; completing the original lineup were drummer Jimmy Lowe, steel guitarist Pat Severs, and bass guitarist Dean Townson. Each album produced only one chart single. By 1994, a compilation album entitled The Best of Pirates of the Mississippi was issued. This compilation included several tracks from their first four albums, as well as newly recorded dance mixes.
Walking the plank was a method of execution practiced on special occasion by pirates, mutineers, and other rogue seafarers. For the amusement of the perpetrators (and the psychological torture of the victims), captives were bound so they could not swim or tread water and forced to walk off a wooden plank or beam extended over the side of a ship Contents . The area is plagued by a gang of pirates under the leadership of Captain Kelly, who live on an island in the river, from where they operate raids on passing steamboats and traders rafts, robbing them of their cargo and murdering the crews. European produced Western based on the novel by Friedrich Gerstäcker, set in the 19th century in a town on the banks of the Mississippi River. The area is plagued by a gang of pirates under the leadership of Captain Kelly, who live on an island in the river, from where they operate raids on passing steamboats and traders rafts, robbing them of their cargo and murdering the crews. Townspeople and settlers do their best to put an end to the crimes and rid themselves of the pirates and their daring leader.
Every time when I see that such sincere and kind games come out, my heart rejoices. Chook & Sosig: Walk the Plank is a new adventure of very strange, but incredibly charming, heroes - spaghetti cat and ghost chicken, and their cheerful and restless friends. This time they decide to play a role-playing game about pirates, this is where the real adventure begins: with rum, angry parrots, hoards and a dragon (?!!). And to say that this adventure is fun means to say nothing.
What's the origin of the phrase 'Walk the plank'? 'Walking the plank' is as much a part of pirate folklore as eye-patches, peg-legs and squawking parrots, and the scene of hapless victims being prodded by cutlass-wielding pirates and 'walking the plank' to their certain death has often been used as a dramatic device in stories and films. It isn't just a fiction; 'walking the plank' was really used as a form of impromptu execution in the 18th and 19th centuries
