Live at the Isle of Wight Festival is a double live album by The Who, recorded at the Isle of Wight Festival on 29 August 1970, and released in 1996. A DVD of the concert was also released for the first time in 1996. The Who were one year and three months into their Tommy tour when they played their second engagement at the Isle of Wight Festival. As in 1969, they played most of their famous rock opera, which by this time was quite familiar to the festival crowd

Their performance at Hull City Hall was recorded with the Pye Mobile Unit by Bob Pridden on 15 February 1970. In a few songs the bass guitar sound was either badly recorded or lost due to technical problems. For these songs, the bass guitar track from the previous night's Live at Leeds performance was matched to the Hull performance, allowing the show to be presented in full.

It reaches number 19 in the UK charts. May. Live At Leeds released in a plain buff sleeve as an antidote to the elaborate packaging of Tommy. Still widely regarded as one of the finest ever live rock albums, it reaches number three in the UK and number four in the US. 7 June 7. The Who play two shows of Tommy at the New York Metropolitan Opera House.

Many of the differences come in the technicalities of the recordings, which are both raw, on-site, multi-track recordings with the Live at Hull recordings suffering initially from so many pops, glitches, and even instrumental dropouts that the reels were shelved for decades.
