Burial Practices by Bootlicker, released 28 December 2018 1. Long Barrow 2. Tumulus 3. Dakhma 4. Kurgan Burial Practices is the first release from Bootlicker. 30 minutes of buzzing, droning oscillators; choking; bass pressure; juddering feedback; metal percussion; unidentified mechanical static; Hamburgerisms; digital ebb and flow. The landscape is haunted by ancestral modes of living that have lost meaning in the post-penicillin world.

A Burial album would sound deep and hypnotic at the start, he told Clark in late 2005, a good six months before the debut’s release. Burial’s own use of vocal science harked back both to rave’s ecstatic pyrotechnics and 2-step’s sultry amorousness. But the mood now tilted to the somber. Circa Untrue, Burial talked about being obsessed with making his music glow a bit more compared with the first album: having these little clips of vocals, and tiny moments of warmth for a split-second, and then it would go. He compared the vocals to embers that fade out quickly, leaving an eerie and empty darkness.

The album ends with "Prig" which starts off with some farely odd sounds that sounds like Dan Deacon mixed with kittens on Cocaine. While it is odd, it is also one of the more compelling intros to a Melvins song and is one of the better tracks on the record. After a while like most of the tracks, it tends to wear thin but just as this happens it stops and some drums and acoustic guitar break in which would seem to bring an end to the album but as the track fades away you can hear a brief sample of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" which is the first track off the final.
