Trentemøller - Into The Great Wide Yonder album
The sound of ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’ might be one step ahead of his previous work, but we still easily recognize the hand of Trentemøller, in this inspired collection of songs and atmospheres. The sonic richness, sharp contrasts and daring musical colours are vintage Trentemøller. Into The Great Wide Yonder’ is the work of an artist and producer who seems to be completely at ease in the studio. Trentemøller: ‘I recorded most of the album in my computer, but in the final stages I transferred all the parts to analog tape through a lot of vintage EQ‘s and pre amps. ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’ might demand more from the listener than ‘The Last Resort’, as it ended up being quite a dramatic album. This album is more noisy, there’s more happening.

The Into The Great Wide Yonder tour ended with 2 consecutive nights at Den Grå Hal in Christiania, Copenhagen in November last year. Once more completely sold out weeks before, these shows perfectly topped the tour off with great sound and a fantastic crowd. Anders Trentemøller is currently putting the finishing touches to his upcoming third studio album which is due for release in September 2013. The first single will drop at the end of May. You can get a first glimpse of some of the new songs at the upcoming festival dates this summer - before Trentemøller heads out on an extensive worldwide tour starting this fall, supporting the new album.
Category: Electronic, New Wave. The Trentemøller Chronicles.
Trentemøller's always possessed the wide-ranging vision to balance minimal and maximal tech-house, as first evinced by his singles and hired-gun remix work with regional peers the Knife and Röyksopp. Now on Resort, his compositional range and palette of wintry textures are on full display. It's becoming increasingly obvious that Trentemøller accomplishes this by infinitely re-inventing combinations of a relatively scaled-down toolkit: The frequent intermingling of shadows of minimal techno beats, the cutting austerity of surf rock whammy dives, 8-bit orchestras swelling into static. Such moody, humanistic motifs dominate Into the Great Wide Yonder. Surf-inspired reverb guitar dots the record's highlight tracks, especially on "Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!!!", on which cymbals and synthetic handclaps ride a wave of guitar fuzz and synths into surprisingly psychedelic territory.
