Size MP3 album: 1114 mb. | Size FLAC album: 1754 mb.

Sonic Subjunkies, Molotov Lounge. Originally mastered by Stefan Betke @ D+M, 1998. Vinyl cut by Loop-o @ D+M. Sonic Subjunkies were Holger Phrack, Rob Marvin & Thaddi. All tracks written, produced & programmed by Thaddi except Intro, co-written by Rob Marvin. Recorded at Sonic Schaltraum Berlin in 1998. Thaddi and I had just met, over his Sonic Subjunkies project, which had a couple of 12"s out on DHR. Thaddi felt he had to bring the project to a close with an album, and move on. We hung out a lot together, and both sensed that something had to happen. The album was released on CD in 1998, infused both with the explosive tension of hardcore as well as a new, more subdued, melancholic darkness

Sonic Subjunkies (sometimes abbreviated as SSJ) was a German Digital Hardcore band based in Berlin, best known for releasing records on Digital Hardcore Recordings. Formed in the autumn of 1992, The band consisted of vocalist Holger Phrack, programmer Rob Marvin and producer/programmer Thaddeus Herrmann. Sonic Subjunkies - I know it's an awful name, but it's a great record. Four years later, the DJ played multiple tracks from the 'Molotov Lounge album, put out on Iris Light.

At first glance Thaddi and Rob Marvin come across as peaceable, easily wound-up computer boffins, playing computer games and living their livesthrough modems

Sonic Subjunkies has been played on NTS shows including Eclair Fifi, with Railton Road Blues first played on 8 November 2018. As been one of the first projects to defect from Digital Hardcore Recordings this is by far the more concentrated, more thought out version of Sonic Subjunkies, as this drops off as the final release by the "duo" (it is noted Thaddi took full production over this album) and it is a absolute cracker. Combining parts of jungle, Industrial, hip hop and metal into its release the album starts with "Intro" which samples Inspector Gadget(!) before moving into a remade version of one of their earlier tracks which is "welcome to Central Industrial". this track perfectly sets up the theme for album, which explores a kinda cyberpunk dystopian future. further on the release live favorite "Destroy" gets added to the mix, which is a molotov of tough metal fused with pulp fiction dialogue and drum n bass. as with a lot of the DHR crew's work a lot samples are taken from classical Manga Video releases, as shown in the holds barred "Do you even who you are?" (Ghost in the shell) and "12.000 RPMs" (Akira) but also there is unique samples in there from films i'm yet to discover. Overall a splendid release and by far better than anything they had released prior to defecting to Iris Light. 10/10.

This is probably my favorite SSJ release. It's much darker than the earlier DHR releases, and it sounds like Thaddi really put a lot of time and energy into it. A lot of tracks seem to have a lot more structure, but the raw energy from the early DHR days is still there.
