Down by the river I was drawn by your grace Into depths of oblivion And to the lovers place I was stucked in a puddle Full of tears and unwise Dark doings now I know That we've paid unlike. Honey, I know hey When we walked arm in arm I felt like we can throw away The falseness of our past And I know too It's been the hardest days for you Let's throw them out the window That's what those lovers do. Down by the river I was drawn by your grace Into depths of oblivion And to the lovers place I was stucked in a puddle Full of tears and unwise Dark.
Their conclusion: it's a distraught one, but its ugliness was lessened by their Studio One rocksteady masterpiece. The song's gorgeous riddim understandably proved popular, and was revived numerous times over the years, reaching a recycling apotheosis in the hands of Dean Fraser and Lloyd "Spiderman" Campbell in the late '90s. The production pair's new version slightly quickened the tempo, giving the piece a reggae freshness and, courtesy of keyboardist Robbie Lyn, a lovely lilt that hinted at calypso.
It’s about blowing your thing with a chick. It’s a plea, a desperate cry. Introducing the song in New Orleans on September 27, 1984 Young claimed that it depicts a man who had a lot of trouble controlling himself who catches his woman cheating on him, then meets her down by the river and shoots her. According to Young, the local sheriff comes to the man’s house and arrests him a few hours later. See Hammond's corresponding 1972 album It Never Rains in Southern California. Title: Hugh Laurie: Down by the River (15 May 2011). I received the album as a birthday present a couple of years ago, seeing the story behind it brings it closer to my heart. You can't help swaying & closing your eyes along side the music you hear in this, it's a breath of fresh air. I've known he's a wonderful pianist for a while, also that he has a beautiful voice. I appreciate listening to his versions of songs even more now, this program shows you some history about the music stemming from Orleans & you won't be able to stop smiling at some things.
