Track Listing - Disc 1. Title/Composer.

Funkadelic - Reworked By Detroiters Within the history of African-American music, George Clinton, Parliament and Funkadelic loom large. P-Funk influenced many corners of dance music over the years, but the psychedelic mythology of Dr. Funkenstein, Starchild, Sir Nose d'Voidoffunk and the rest has a special resonance in Detroit. When The Electrifying Mojo was educating the Motor City via the airwaves with his show, the Midnight Funk Association, Parliament and Funkadelic were key ingredients in his soulful stew, helping to shape the cosmically-minded delivery of the music. Given the reverence with which this music is held, it's a brave move to commission a Funkadelic remix compilation. Of all the possible contributors you could think of, the musical community of Detroit feels like the most natural choice.

See All. Maggot Brain. Standing On the Verge of Getting It On. 1973. And Your Ass Will Follow.

September 11, 2017 In News. Featuring Moodymann, Underground Resistance, Amp Fiddler and more. Iconic Motor City producers are reimagining the songs of Parliament, in new album Funkadelic Reworked by Detroiters, from Ace Records.

Given the brilliantly simple concept behind this fine compilation - contemporary Detroit producers remix Funkadelic - we're rather surprised nobody's done it before. With 17 varied re-rubs stretched across two hugely entertaining CDs, there's plenty to enjoy.

I can't believe that Juan Atkins - given that he's such a fan - wasn't asked to contribute a mix to this damn fine collection of Detroit mixes. Perhaps he was busy, ill or simply didn't have the time? Go figure.
As has been said by previous reviewers this is pretty much a monumental LP that shows just how deep, low down and dirty funky these remixers can get when influenced by the original p-funk masters. And I love how they've used the original Westbound Records label artwork - a real nice touch to a bomb of an album
How does this LP not get mentioned in the Top 50 releases for the year? Simply awesome and agree with oovalen that you need to grab a 2nd copy!!!
you go and get yourself two of these cause in one years time you gonna be wishing you had ;)great ORIGINAL MUSIC, THE BEST source material you can get, top remixers, superb mastering, fantastic presentation:triple gatefold, not just credits but anecdotes, art, padded freaking innersleeves...
Great perfect EU pressing. Sounds deep funky, crisp and just awesome. Great music. Even for people who have never heard of Funkadelic can get funky here. If you are into Funkadelic you will not be disappointed. Its done in deep respect for the funky godfathers from space.
My pressing has three or four clicks on the outer edge.In detail the first secounds of Cosmic Slop (Moodymann Mix) B1, does it is common or only on my record?
"Looking Back At You" is a version of "Smokey" from the 1976 Funkadelic release "Hardcore Jollies." the correct authorship of this song is: Gary Shider and George Clinton.
