The Church - After Everything Now This album
After Everything Now This is the thirteenth album by the Australian alternative rock band The Church, released in early 2002. It was produced by group member Tim Powles (Penny Flanagan) and the rest of the band. Recordings for a follow-up album to Hologram of Baal (September 1998) turned out to be painstakingly slow due to numerous side projects and geographical locations of different members – with Steve Kilbey in Sweden, Marty Willson-Piper in England and the others in Australia.
After Everything Now This is not a bad album, but of the 56 plus minutes that this album runs for, I felt I was listening to truly creative rock for less than five minutes (some passages in Song For The Asking, Reprieve and Night Friends come to mind). In general what I heard was more akin to the melodic, semi-psychedelic Britpop bands of the 90s and this decade. Having said all that, I really quite liked this album. The Church have a melodic gift and despite not being that innovative, are rarely boring. My favourite songs include The Awful Ache (with violin and viola contributions by one Jane Seymour) and Radiance, both of which make the most of layered synths and strings to build a powerful atmosphere, Reprive, a strange melange of influences with the Lou Reed nod being the most prominent, and the spacey Night Friends, which is probably the most creative tune of all. here.

Really like the style on this album. The sound is dark ambient drone rock. The two longer tracks at the end is a little disappointing. But the rest are great songs. I really like Numbers, The Awful Ache, Song For The Asking and Repieve. Satans3rdnipple June 3rd 11. Give Your Opinion on After Everything Now This. Staff & Contributors // Site Forum // Contact us. Down: Nostalgia And Everything After. This song is by The Church and appears on the album Parallel Universe (2002). Now that it's over I find myself leavingThe sound permeate in all directions at onceI never said goodbye to the family, loversBrothers and daughters, the rest of the bunch. It seems so strange that the things I was chasingHave all evaporated like a distant dreamPetty ambition, petty in between. After the after everythingAfter the after everything now this.
Everything now everything now everything no.
Everything Now abandons it almost entirely, although a hint remains amid the expansive electronics of its best track, We Don’t Deserve Love. At one extreme, Everything Now contains some genuinely fantastic music: the groggy electro-funk and falsetto vocals of Electric Blue, the audibly Abba-inspired Put Your Money on Me, the synthesised pulse and pure pop chorus of Creature Comforts. At the other, there is stuff that appears to be influenced by some of the least appealing music in history.
