Rick Danko - "Times Like These" album
Times Like These, released posthumously, is Rick Danko's last studio album. There's a tendency for fans to under-appreciate the singer/bassist's later work, opting instead for some sepia-toned memory of the Ontario farm boy amidst his original Band colleagues in the '60s and '70s - but that's only part of the story of a 40-year career.
Richard Clare Danko (December 29, 1943 – December 10, 1999) was a Canadian musician, bassist, songwriter and singer, best known as a member of The Band. Danko was born on December 29, 1943 in Blayney, Ontario, a farming community outside the town of Simcoe, the third of four sons in a musical family of Ukrainian descent. He grew up listening to live music at family gatherings and to country music, blues and R&B on the radio.

When Rick Danko's posthumous "Times Like These" ends, it's like coming awake again after a beautiful – if powerfully sad – reverie. At the time of his December 1999 passing, Rick Danko was at work on an album to follow up to 1999’s Live on Breeze Hill. Named after this track, the subsequent project was ultimately finished with help from his 1990s-era cohorts in the Band and Aaron Hurwitz.
