The Replacements - Achin' To Be album
Well she's kind of like an artist Sittin' on the floor Never finishes, she abandons Never shows a soul. And she's kind of like a movie Everyone rushes to see And no one understands it Sittin' in their seats. She opens her mouth to speak and What comes out's a mystery Thought about, not understood She's achin' to be. Well she dances alone in nightclubs Every other day of the week People look right through her Baby doll, check your cheek. I've been achin' for a while now, friend I've been achin' hard for years. Well she's kind of like an artist Who uses paints no more You never show me what you're doing Never show a soul. Well, I saw one of your pictures There was nothin' that I could see If no one's on your canvas Well, I'm achin' to be.
It had the perfect cover – the band, looking hungover, perched on the roof of the Stinson home – and the perfect title. After rejecting Kind of a Sewer and The Replacements Get a Soft On as options, they chose to pluck one from rock history in an act of bravado: the album was called Let It Be. The strange thing about Let It Be is that a good chunk of the album, is by most rational standards, throwaway. And its title summed up the very notion of what the Replacements were about: they were achin’ to be; they never really realised what they were. The Complete Studio Albums: 1981-1990 is released on Rhino on 13 April.

From Don't Tell A Soul album. growing up in Minneapolis, The Replacements were the BEST bar band ever! Husker Du, Soul Asylum, and The Replacements, - great decade for the Twin Cities. kanarchy As somebody born in the late 80s who was 1st exposed to the replacements with let it be, i think these later albums really show that they're pretty versatile. Obviously, yes, on their other albums they certainly had variety, but I think that later tracks like this one show another dimension. Maybe this opinion is only one that a casual fan like myself would have, but I definitely appreciate the chance to hear something like Gary's Got a Boner and then this one after the other. Judging by the last 2 "Replacements" albums

The Replacements shows were wildly inconsistent. A great Replacements song can make you laugh and cry in the same tune. Songs like 'Achin' to Be,' 'Here Comes A Regular,' 'Can't Hardly Wait' and 'Within Your Reach' come to mind. I've been a fan since I first heard 'Go' from the Stink EP on the radio!" "Go" from Stink (1982). Mark Wheat refers to Don't Tell a Soul as the final album, because the Replacements' swan song All Shook Down was largely Westerberg with (mostly) session musicians. Following Don't Tell a Soul, the band embarked on a tour opening for Tom Petty, which caused significant strife among the band members.
