Over the last two or three years, New York's Minimal Wave outpost has focussed on releasing plenty of new music that fits in line with their unashamedly 'cold-wave' approach, and this has opened them to a whole variety of listeners and DJs. However, in our opinion, where they truly shine is in providing the underground masses with compilations such as this latest The Bedroom Tapes: A Compilation Of Minimal Wave From Around The World 1980-1991, a glorious snapshot of all the very best slices of lo-fi that has largely gone unnoticed to the modern eye. Of course, the majority of t. .

A compilation album comprises tracks, which may be previously released or unreleased, usually from several separate recordings by either one or several performers.

by Various Artists our current biggest selling title. the original 4 April 1995 street date "Two . press release: The Waveform label started life in 1993 when a being from England's Beyond record label (inventors of the term "Ambient Dub") visited the UFO filled canyons of Sedona, Arizona, and there mind melded with a radio DJ who had been playing the new ambient, electronic and sometimes dance influenced experimental music emanating mainly from England and Europe.

Keep compilation, album name, year and album artist tags identical. To avoid fragmentation of a compilation, you need to make sure that every track has identical values for certain tags. These tags, the compilation tag, album name, year and album artist, are potential identifiers for the surrounding release and should be the same across any given release. Album name and album artist are both obvious. If half of the tracks from the same compilation are tagged with the album "Greatest Hits" while the other half are tagged "Gratest Hits" they'll show as two albums. As well as keeping the artist name consistent within a compilation album, you should keep it consistent across your collection. It's annoying to want to browse all of your 'Various artist' compilations and realise you have to browse through 'Various', 'Various artists' and other variations to find all of your compilations.

This is a compilation from Hessen state in (central-)Germany from the Uptown label, which was located in Neu Isenburg - in the south of FFM (Frankfurt am Main). The little vinyl they produced were to find in genres like Techno, Acid, Trance, Hardtrance, and maybe some tracks contain even Goa elements...The label is known for a handful of well selected cd compilations you can locate in similar genres like the above mentioned and Uptown distributed also some of the Trigger output like X-Dream's "Children Of The New Generation" e.g. or some of the "The Sound Of Frankfurt" cds.Two of the great Uptown Compilations were the Mindworks serial I want talk about here - the second part "Mindworks Two - a compilation of electronic devices".Both parts compiled by Thomas Heckmann, an artist everybody knows - if interested in legendary Techno and Acid produced in the 90s - who did a real good job here. While other compiler are music lovers ladling from their huge releases knowledge, Heckmann also evaluates from the sight of an analoge equipment nerd. He recognized if the track has special sounds, if the track fits in arrangement and mastering. The result is a well weighted mixture of classics and rare, more unknown tracks. Doubtless Heckmann integrated some of his own tracks or tracks from his label(s) but this was needed to give the project one more time this special, well thought-out sound. Because of the regional offer of well composed Acid and Techno in this era Thomas selected and added some of the best tracks of them.Although some would doubt, in my opinion this 2cd release has a similar quality as (cd-)legends like the famous art 2 cd "The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine" (became very expenisive today and famous because not only Richard James influences (rare tracks of him)) for example. Yes, this Mindworks Two belongs to another time in Electronic Music history but is somehow overlooked, maybe because the dissimilar compilation output in the later years (the art 2 cd was released in 92, Mindworks 2 years later. The development of Techno was huge in this time and compared to the development of the computer technic this could be a good example how fast things changed. And in this 'Golden Years of Rave' the releases output of European Techno labels had strongly risen. Back to the release:If I would be asked for the best from the 2cd I need really some time because the average quality is on a high level anyway ...I don't want to make that desicion and I am in unfortunate manner not often in situations like this if checkin this or that release...You can find bass-strong acid beside darker and deeper (Detroit-like) tunes and you can find minimalistic vibes without becoming boring over time.I bet that 90% of the tracks contain powerful and deep analog sound signals and if you like this I can recommend this 2cd to buy. If you don't have the first part in your shelf its not the baddest idea to buy it too - it transports the same spirit of music. Full points...
