Keith Emerson - At The Movies album

Size MP3 album: 1977 mb. | Size FLAC album: 1701 mb.

Disc one therefore is subtitled US Movies and features two films Nighthawks from 1981, probably the most best known of the all films and coincidentally the only one I have seen. Starring Sylvester Stallone, Rutger Hauer and 70s darling Lindsay Wagner, my memories of the film are that it was a fairly turgid piece of cinema, although I have to say the music fairs much better. Keith Emerson opens this disc with some gentle piano and although brief the increasingly strident orchestration nicely sets the scene and lays foundation to the equally engaging Rose’s Descent Into The Cellar. The splendid Taxi Ride Home And Cigarettes, Ices, Etc, evoke ELP around the Tarkus period, whereas the church organ of The Library takes back to their first album and The Three Fates. Big Big Train – Alive.

Keith Emerson At The Movies is a three disc compilation featuring tracks that Emerson recorded for various films between 1980 and 2004. The Godzilla album occupies tracks 7-20 of the disc and my advice is to separate out these tracks and listen to them in isolation from the rest. Here Keith is in good form and this music is generally enjoyable and at moments even fairly ELP-like despite the programmed drums and absence of vocals. The first six tracks of the third disc is from an animated Japanese film from 1987 called Harmagedon. These tracks are, I suppose, also hard to get hold of outside this compilation.

This three-CD set collects selected highlights from three decades of prog rock keyboard wizard Keith Emerson's movie soundtrack work, including music recorded for Italian director Dario Argento's horror flicks THE INFERNO and MURDERROCK. Ranging from reflective piano studies to full-blown orchestral works, these pieces display Emerson's extensive range of influences, from Fats Waller to Bela Bartok.

Keith Noel Emerson (born 2 November 1944) is an English keyboardist and composer. He was formerly a member of the Keith Emerson Trio, John Brown's Bodies, The T-Bones, The . Arnold's backing band The Nice, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP), one of the early supergroups. Emerson first found success with The Nice in the late 1960s before going on to become a founding member of ELP in 1970
