The Fall - The Infotainment Scan album
The Infotainment Scan is the fifteenth album by the Fall, released in 1993 on Permanent Records in the UK and by Matador Records in the US (the first of the band's albums to get an official US release since Extricate (1990)). It entered the UK Albums Chart at number 9, making it their highest-charting album.
In the spring of 1993, The Fall unexpectedly found themselves hipster critical darlings, sending that year’s The Infotainment Scan to the spot on UK charts. To fans and followers however, Infotainment Scan’s success contained little mystery

The Infotainment Scan was a surprising pop breakthrough for The Fall. The album broke into the Top 10 UK albums chart, and featured an infectious cover of the 1979 Sister Sledge disco anthem Lost in Music, originally written by Chic’s Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. Listening to Smith howling Lost in Music, with an ace backing band, made you realize that The Fall’s endless repetition and rhythmic groove was sort of disco all along. This later-period Fall album showed that Smith hadn’t yet run out of ideas.
