The 50th anniversary celebration of the White Album has many revelations, but perhaps its greatest achievement is dispelling the myth that the work was born out of pain and unhappiness. Exorcizing the malaise is just as important as the technical remasters when it comes to appreciating this music afresh. Elsewhere in the box set book are photos of other White Album-era lyric sheets, scribbled on a charmingly haphazard array of items. Long, Long, Long can be found on a page from Harrison’s calendar (dated the second week of August 1968) and the Lennon-penned Glass Onion is on the back of an envelope.
Deluxe box set will feature, demos, outtakes, live recordings and a documentary. Half a century ago, when Jimi Hendrix began work on what would become his the final album to come out in his lifetime, Electric Ladyland, he was finding inspiration everywhere. The box set will contain six CDs and an audio Blu-ray disc, a 164-page book, plus reproductions of the poster and portraits of the Beatles which came with the original release. The first two discs will contain a new remix of the White Album by Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin. The third disc will contain demos recorded in 1968 at Kinfauns, George Harrison's bungalow in Esher, Surrey. These mainly acoustic recordings have been newly mixed from the original four-track tapes
