Wild Thing" is a song written by American songwriter Chip Taylor and popularized by the English rock band the Troggs. It was originally recorded and released by the American rock band the Wild Ones in 1965, but it did not chart. The Troggs' single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the UK Singles Chart in 1966. Their version of "Wild Thing" was ranked at number 257 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

In 1966, English band The Troggs turned their cover of Wild Thing into a hit. The song was written by5 Chip Taylor-brother of Jon Voight and uncle to Angelina Jolie-who talked to Rolling Stone about demoing the song saying, I was on the floor laughing when I was through. This song was originally recorded in 1965 by an American band known as the Wild Ones-but their version flopped. Meanwhile, the Troggs first single, Lost Girl, also flopped and they found Taylor’s original recording in a heap of demos
