MxPx started as three 15-year-old kids calling themselves Magnified Plaid pounding out music inspired by and similar to The Descendents and other Southern California punk rock bands. They didn’t really love their band name, however, which was a tribute to the original guitarist’s penchant for wearing one particularly loud plaid shirt.

With every album mxpx just continues to get better. I'll have to be honest. When I popped this into my CD player it just blew my mind at how awesome but at the same time how different this album actually is. The big difference in this CD from the rest is the backing vocals and the melodies which gives it a little bit of a more melodic feel but not too pop sounding. You can hear the punk edge in just about every song. I own 3 MXPX cd's and this is my 4th to my collection. The two bands even used to tour together all the time.

The live recording At the Show showed MxPx's ability to re-create their spunky music in concert, and The Broken Bones EP appeared 2000 before their next full-length, The Ever Passing Moment, arrived in the spring. Another effort, The Renaissance EP, was followed two years later with the band's first greatest-hits release, Ten Years and Running. MxPx then confirmed in early 2007 that they had re-signed with Tooth & Nail with the intention of releasing their new album that summer, and release it they did, with Secret Weapon hitting stores in the middle of that year.

The band’s new EP is titled Best Life, and it features four fall ready tracks. Best Life includes two new tracks, in addition to the acoustic versions of Let’s Ride and Moments Like This, both of which were taken from the most recent release of their self-titled record.
