The Oh Hellos began in a cluttered bedroom, where siblings Maggie and Tyler Heath (born and raised in southern Texas) recorded their self-titled EP in 2011. In the fall of 2012, the duo released their debut full-length record Through the Deep, Dark Valley, an album full of regret and redemption, which they wrote, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered themselves. Their 2015 full-length album, Dear Wormwood-a collection of songs inspired in part by . Lewis' The Screwtape Letters, Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind, mythology, folklore, and apocalyptic literature-tells the story of a protagonist trapped in an abusive relationship through a series of letters written to the antagonist.
Dear Wormwood is the second LP by American folk rock band The Oh Hellos, released October 15th, 2015. It was written, produced, and performed primarily by siblings Tyler and Maggie Heath, with the exception of "Danse Macabre", which was composed by Camille Saint-Saëns in 1874. The mixing and mastering was done by Charlie Kramsky, with extra vocals being recorded by members of the ensemble that tours with the duo, including Matthew Hagerman and Joey Chance.

The Oh Hellos may have started off making music together simply as Tyler and Maggie Heath by writing a loving, joke-filled song together as a birthday gift for their mother's birthday but this is the sort of act that needs to be taken seriously. What started off as a remedy for being a couple of broke children soon developed in to a rich, fully formed musical project with the sort of richness of Fleet Foxes or The Head and The Heart. But, the kicker is The Oh Hellos create those sounds as a duo.
