Mary Black - The Collection album

Size MP3 album: 1356 mb. | Size FLAC album: 1840 mb.

She has shied away from over-exposure of late, but Mary Black gleefully asserts her identify in this double CD, the second a live stage and studio collection, Hidden Harvest. Her sound swoops from the oceanic sweep of One and Only (from Shine) - an altogether more fruity airing of that voice than the preciousness of some of her earlier work with Declan Sinnott - to the almost prayerful Wonder Child.

Mary Black Sings Jimmy MacCarthy" album release. Cover photo and quote. There is alchemy and sorcery in the extraordinary way that Mary Black has found her path into Jimmy's songs - her ability to inhabit the songs, to sense their interior dimensions, to explore and to open out their deepest mysteries, is uncanny, heartening, a kind of active magic. She brings a lifetime of study, a profound and wise mix of craft and intuition, to every song she sings, but when it comes to her versions of MacCarthy's work she seems to move into another dimension.

CD-quality (Lossless 16 bit/44. on the built-in player. News With "So Quiet", the singer and the jazz accordionist create a sweet and delicious enchanted interlude for parents and children.

This album contains two discs, of which disk one is the traditional 'best of'. It gives us, nicely remastered, some of the best songs from Black’s previous albums BABES IN THE WOOD to SPEAKING WITH THE ANGEL, ballads and up-tempo almost-rockers, did I say she can rock out too? Most with flavorful, immediately recognizable Irish arrangements.

My copy of this looks clean (and has been cleaned on a RCM) but plays with constant background noise, is it a poor 1990s pressing or have I got a duff copy?
