3. Tin Tin Deo (Live).
Oscar Peterson recorded a remarkable amount of albums during his career but, surprisingly, this was his first full record of unaccompanied piano solos. Some observers consider his MPS recordings to be his best (quite a few are collected in the four-CD reissue Exclusively for My Friends, including this one).
An 8-CD set of recordings from the great Oscar Peterson, beautifully recorded, sumptuously packaged and accompanied by a 60-page booklet full of informative writing: Exclusively For My Friends is a treat for ears and eyes. All of the recordings on this set were made between 1963 and 1971. The sessions took place in the home of producer and MPS Records owner Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer in Germany's Black Forest-Peterson and Brunner-Schwer were friends and the pianist often visited the label owner's home
Action (Oscar Peterson album). Action (also released as Easy Walker!) is a 1968 studio album by Oscar Peterson, the first volume of his Exclusively for My Friends series.
Exclusively for My Friends: Lost Tapes. Between 1963 and 1968, Oscar Peterson released a series of six albums for the German MPS label. Recorded before a live audience in an elegant, old Black Forest villa, the albums had a looser, more intimate feel than the commercially minded projects he cut with American producer Norman Granz. This album consists of previously unreleased performances from '65 to '67. On the later sessions, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen are replaced by Sam Jones and Bobby Durham, respectively.
Exclusively for My Friends' is widely seen as the centerpiece of any Oscar Peterson collection. Peterson himself went into raptures about the MPS recordings, stating that, thanks to the intimate recording atmosphere in Hans Georg Brunnder-Schwer's living room and his pursuit of perfection as a sound engineer and producer, they belonged to his best. This album contains no booklet. HighRes-Studio Master files are lossless at various sample rates from 4. kHz up to 384 kHz or 1-bit (. 224 MHz) for DSD.
