World Party - A Brief History Of The World Party album
World Party are a British musical group, which is essentially the solo project of its sole member, Karl Wallinger. He started the band in 1986 in London after leaving The Waterboys. After a stint as musical director of a West End performance of The Rocky Horror Show, Karl Wallinger joined a funk band called "The Out", before joining Mike Scott's Waterboys in 1984 to record the album A Pagan Place. After their third album in 1985, This Is the Sea, Wallinger departed to form World Party.

World War II. "The world must know what happened, and never forget". The incident, later mythologised as the Boston Tea Party occurred on 16 December 1773. A mob, crudely disguised as Mohawk Indians, boarded three ships of the British East India Company in Boston Harbour, and dumped 350 chests of tea overboard. At the time, British imperial power was at its height in North America, a decade after her great triumph over the French in the Seven Years’ War (1756-63)
Since World Party’s last album, Bang! in 1993, Wallinger has immersed himself in new technology, but he often got sidetracked by outside forces. With this record, I just went with my intuition and enjoyed myself, he said, but I got distracted a lot of the time by excuses and computers. I updated my studio gear and just started to join the 21st century. Who knows where all that stuff will go, but it’s an enjoyable ride while it lasts. I was also pretty unhappy about the way things went with the last record (on EMI’s Ensign). Disc one contains 10 Party favors, from Ship of Fools (the group’s only Top 40 hit) to Is It Like Today? The second disc features World Party’s new single, Is It Time. label, The Enclave, folded in the fall of 1997.
Goodbye Jumbo, World Party's second album, contained the minor UK hit singles "Way Down Now" and "Put the Message in the Box". Wallinger collaborated with fellow songwriter Guy Chambers on some of the tracks. After the 1991 EP Thank You World (including a cover of The Beatles' "Happiness Is a Warm Gun"), Wallinger recruited guitarist David Catlin-Birch and ex-Icicle Works drummer Chris Sharrock as fully-fledged members for 1993's album Bang!. It reached no. 2 in the UK Albums Chart, with the track, "Is It Like Today?" (no. 19 on the UK Singles Chart) also becoming a moderately successful single in Europe. The People’s Party (also known as Populist Party) flourished in the latter years of the 19th Century and continued on into the early years of the 20th Century. Its Presidential ticket carried four states in 1892 and it elected candidates to office in local and statewide races in some jurisdictions. As the late William K. Shearer noted, in his history of the American Independent Party: By the early 1900s, the Republican Party had become thoroughly dominated by a few powerful political bosses, the giant political bosses, and the financial empires which the bosses serve. the economy of the world as a whole. Certainly in the 20th and 21st centuries, there is little room for doubt that we have seen the consolidation of financial power into fewer hands and that these power brokers exert greater control over the media and the political system than ever before.
