SLAUGHTER'S BIG RIP-OFF (originally Polydor PD-6015) was James Brown's second soundtrack release of 1973, written for the sequel to SLAUGHTER, a lower-tier blaxploitation vehicle for tor Jim Brown (sadly, no relation). It was preceded by his soundtrack for BLACK CAESAR and followed by 1974's THE PAYBACK. Perhaps this was a way for Brown to guarantee Bobbitt some future income. The album contains six vocal tracks, one by protege Lyn Collins, the slow-burning "How Long Can I Keep It Up" whose lyrics will strike the listener as either laughably or regrettably misogynistic depending on your temperament. Other vocal tracks include the percussive "Slaughter Theme," the bluesy "Big Strong" and the self-explanatory "People Get Up And Drive Your Funky Soul" which was later released as the B-side of his 1974 R&B hit "My Thang.
