One Second is the sixth album released by the British metal band Paradise Lost. Following Draconian Times, the album marks the group's first complete departure from doom metal in favour of a more gothic and electronic direction. One Second is Paradise Lost's first album recorded in digital format. Two songs, "The Hour" and "Slave", were written for this album, but have not been included on the album nor its reissues. The two songs are included on the second version of the single "One Second".

And for one second I lost my head and for one second, I wished that you were dead And for one second, I understand and for one second, my life was in your hands. This lyrics show the feelings you go through when your loved one do you down. And yes- within just a few second your life, feelings and personality could be changed. Actually Paradise Lost are also different. If we compare One Second to their classic Gothic from ’9. s this the same band? Well, yes, but beside that the music is still very good, everything is altered. The album starts off with the most 'poppy' sounding song that has ever been found on a Paradise Lost album.

Album One Second (1997). Label Music For Nations. And for one second, I lost my head And for one second, I wished you were dead And for one second, you wish that you were here all alone Hold back the tears that could fall for me. And for one second, I lost my breath And for one second, I cherish that you said And for one second, it seemed that I was here all alone Hold back the tears that could fall for me. And for one second, I understand And for one second, my life was in your hands And for one second, you wish that you were here all alone Hold back the tears that could fall for me. They fall alone.

Paradise Lost are a gothic metal band that formed in 1988 in Halifax, England and are considered by some to be one of the pioneers of the death-doom genre and of the gothic metal genre. Paradise Lost has proven to be an influential band, with Jonas Renkse of Katatonia saying that his band started off "as Paradise Lost fanboys".
