This hymn-particularly as sung by Robert Hale and Dean Wilder-has lifted my soul and sustained me through many times of grief. How I thank God for it. Thank you, Steve Miller, for posting the story of how it came to be written. I began to sing it and it has has given me great assurance an peace of mind. Thanks to to the author of this powerful hymn that give such great inspiration and peace of mind.
Break My Stride is about a girl Wilder is leaving behind as he is moving on to further adventures. However, according to a 2012 interview with Wilder, he expressed that the song was written in part because of his frustration with his label Arista Records: Clive Davis was notorious for writing notes, and all those notes would always accompany the cassett. o I hear reading Clive’s note to me, and he mentions every tune but Break My Stride. When it came time for number four, in November 1971, they stripped things down even further, refusing to print a single word anywhere on the record sleeve, not even their own names, apparently in hopes of causing confusion among the hated rock press. Who on Earth would have ever thought of doing that?" Robert Plant said of the backward-Satanism charges.

And you said: Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride Nobody's gonna slow me down, oh no I got to keep on moving Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride I'm running and I won't touch ground, oh no I got to keep on moving. You're on the road and now you pray it lasts The road behind was rocky But now you're feeling cocky You look at me and then you see your past Is that the reason why you're running so fast?
