The Fallout was Crown The Empire’s first full-length album having signed with Rise Records and has a running apocalyptic theme. Recording started in August 2012, when they entered the studio with Joey Sturgis and during this time, ex-vocalist David Escamilla was introduced as an official member of the band. Makeshift Chemistry, the first single, was released on 23rd October 2012, followed closely by Memories of a Broken Heart on 8th November 2012, just preceding the album’s release on 15th November 2012, the same day as the music video for the title track. The Fallout Q&A.
On The Fallout, Crown the Empire's post-hardcore vision is vast enough to tackle the whole spectrum of modern rock music, whether it’s in their metalcore rampages fractured by electronic effects ("Graveyard Souls"), or in their earnest, slow-building pop-screamo ("Memories of a Broken Heart")
On their full-length debut, Crown the Empire create an album packed with soaring highs and crushing lows with The Fallout. There's a moodiness about the band's sound, which thrashes in fits between crunchy breakdowns, theatrical interludes, and soothing, synth-filled moments that really captures the concept of the title. As The Fallout hurtles toward its conclusion, the listener bears witness to a series of emotional buildups and their inevitable moments of catharsis, all in all making for an album that grabs listeners and takes then on an out-of-control thrill ride that's both.
