Born into the 90's is R. Kelly's collaboration album with his group Public Announcement. Released in January 1992, the album became an R&B hit with the success of singles such as "She's Got That Vibe" (the album's biggest hit in the UK, at "Dedicated," and Kelly's first two R&B hits: "Honey Love," and "Slow Dance (Hey Mr. DJ. Honey Love topped the Billboard R&B Singles chart for 2 weeks, while "She's Got That Vibe" and "Slow Dance (Hey Mr DJ)" hit the Top 40 respectively
One of the last popular New Jack groups, this East Coast unit had some smash singles in 1992 doing both conventional R&B/soul and hip-hop/new jack tracks. They did both originals and covers, had an enthusiastic attitude, were well produced, and stayed on the urban contemporary outlets throughout the year.

The first R. Kelly album I bought was his self titled album in '95 when he went solo. So I am sort of going backwards here. The only song I remembered was "She's got that vibe" from this album, but the rest of the songs sound very "Teddy Riley & Guy" sounding. By no means does this mean a bad thing-I am a huge fan of Guy too. It just means that R. Kelly's true talent & sound had not come into play yet. It's a good start to a performer that would really shine through the '90s and be a trend setter in the world of R&B music.
