Rock and roll" is scrawled across of the front of this late-'70s album, but it appears to be simply some well-chosen graffiti in the photograph and not the actual album title. It would have been both generic and appropriate if that had been the choice rather than simply Blondie Chaplin as a title for the debut solo effort from an artist better known for his collaborative efforts with such large-scale cheeses as the Rolling Stones. It's only rock & roll but I like it," was one of the latter band's mantras

Blondie Chaplin: Singer and guitarist from Durban, South Africa, where he played in the band The Flames in the mid-to late-1960s. He became known to international audiences in the early 1970s as a singer and guitarist for The Beach Boys. He is a long-term backing vocalist, percussionist, and acoustic rhythm guitarist for English band The Rolling Stones on their recordings and tours over a 15-year period, starting in 1997. To date he has released two solo studio albums. Sail Away, I Heads On Fire, The Nightingale и другие песни.

Blondie Chaplin: Blondie Chaplin The trick with this very attractive record is to approach it as an intense and knowing exploration of the conventions of modern rock and roll. That way you can immerse yourself in its raceless melisma, raving overdubs, and produced grooves as if engaging in a meaningful activity. But it is customary in projects of this kind to distinguish between exploration and exploitation, readymade and cliché, aural depth and aural surface, by means of a few hints in the lyrics (cf. Dave Edmunds or Dwight Twilley)

Chaplin initially attracted attention as a member of the Flames, a soul cover band that became the first non-white group to reach the top slot on South Africa's music charts with their 1968 single, "For Your Precious Love. The following year, the band's performance in a London club was overheard by Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys. In addition to changing their name to "the Flame" and producing their debut album, Wilson had the group open.
