Gordon Elliott - lead guitar, lead vocals, harmonica, congas Donald Luther - bass, vocals, percussion Paul "Green" Greenwald - alto & soprano flutes, sax, drums Michael Lamers - rhythm guitar, drums, autoharp, vocals. i never thought there were some "tull" sound reminiscences across the atlantic ocean. of course shag have their own personal sound. notably the american rockin' sound. but there's a british "air" in their compositions thanks !!!.

This Milwaukee band is remembered for its 1967 psych 7" "Stop & listen". what is not known about them is their 1969 studio recordings in San Francisco. The band layed down some excellent psychedelic tracks at the time the Grateful Dead were finishing their "Workingman's dead". These recordings have never been released before and their use of the flute was two years ahead of Jethro Tull's popularisation of this instrument.

Outsider Item No: 390938. In 1969, the band recorded a demo at Pacific High Recordings in San Francisco, at the same time that the Grateful Dead were recording their classic 'Working Mans Dead' album. The demo was in fact a fully finished album of bombastic psychedelia, acid-rock and proto-prog with loud fuzz-wah guitars, long tracks, crazy percussion and killer flute. Here's the first ever vinyl issue of those lost recordings. This LP comes with master tape sound, and an insert with liner notes and photos.

Shag foi uma banda de rock de garagem de Milwaukee, cidade mais populosa do estado de Wisconsin, nos Estados Unidos, começaram em 1964 com o nome de The Shag, porem não lançaram nenhum disco, algumas musicas podem ser encontradas em algumas coletâneas. Em 1969 com algumas mudanças na formação ele se mudaram para a Califórnia e gravaram o seu único disco titulado que teve uma mudança na sonoridade da banda.
