The Wild Side of Life" is a song made famous by country music singer Hank Thompson. Originally released in 1952, the song became one of the most popular recordings in the genre's history, spending 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard country charts, solidified Thompson's status as a country music superstar and inspired the answer song, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" by Kitty Wells.

Pete & Pete is set in the town of Wellsville (it is implied, but never explicitly mentioned, to be a fictionalized version of the real-life town of Wellsville, New York, as well as a nod to The Embarrassment's song "Wellsville"). License plates in the show refer to "The Sideburn State. Danny Tamberelli (top) as Little Pete and Mike Maronna (bottom) as Big Pete. Big Pete Wrigley (Michael Maronna). The show's narrator, Big Pete often acts as a voice of reason in contrast to the strange occurrences and people around him. Aside from typical sibling rivalry, he and his brother are best friends. He plays trombone in the school marching band.

And that's why, despite its stated objective to focus on the small and the odd, The Adventures of Pete and Pete mattered in the way Big Things matter: it spoke to kids on a level that they could understand, taught them without talking down to them, and helped them to feel comfortable in their own skin, even as everything around them was.

Two decades later, The Adventures of Danny & Mike is their new monthly medium, in collaboration with Feral Audio and produced by Jeremy Balon and Marianne Ways. The first episode was released in September, recorded live from the Portland PetesFest. The popularity of the Nickelodeon show has followed Maronna and Tamberelli-who are now in their 30s-over the years, creating a Lebowski-like level of organized fandom and necessitating several cast reunions

Depending on the extent of your 90’s knowledge, Polaris is either the band that sang the theme song to Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete, or the band that released the ensuing album Music from The Adventures of Pete & Pete, which became a cult classic.
