Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle album
The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle is the second studio album by American rock singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen. It was recorded by Springsteen with the E Street Band at 914 Sound Studios in Blauvelt, New York; and released on November 11, 1973, by Columbia Records. The album includes the song "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)", the band's most-used set-closing song for the first 10 years of its career.

Bruce Springsteen expanded the folk-rock approach of his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, . to strains of jazz, among other styles, on its ambitious follow-up, released only eight months later. His chief musical lieutenant was keyboard player David Sancious, who lived on the E Street that gave the album and Springsteen's backup group its name. With his help, Springsteen created a street-life mosaic of suburban society that owed much in its outlook to Van Morrison's romanticization of Belfast in Astral Weeks.
His second album, The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle, added his stellar E Street Band. This is where Springsteen becomes an electric performer, with songs that invent new structures and court deep narratives. The E Street Shuffle and Kitty’s Back are among the funkiest songs he’s recorded, while 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) and Wild Billy’s Circus Story are the warmest and most heartbreaking on the album. Incident on 57th Street is pure cinemascope, an elaborate tale that sweats like a classic early-‘70s film.
The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle takes itself more seriously. The songs are longer, more ambitious and more romantic; and yet, wonderfully, they lose little of Greetings’ rollicking rush. Having released two fine albums in less than a year, Springsteen is obviously a considerable new talent. Tap and hold to copy URL. The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle Tracklist. 1. Listen to Bruce Springsteen's '4th of July, Asbury Park'. Side Two features a three-song suite book-ended by two of the New York songs. With their depiction of young romance set amid a gritty urban backdrop, "Incident on 57th Street" and "New York City Serenade" can be seen as precursor to Born to Run's "Jungleland. In between is the epic "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)," which would close out the main set of nearly every Springsteen and the E Street Band show until 1988, practically taking on a life of its own in the process.
Bruce Springsteen may have been the future of rock’n’roll, but he wasn’t yet its present. The Wild, The Innocent, & The E-Street Shuffle is The Boss at his finest. While it may not have the same scope and grandeur of the album following it, Springsteen's mega-hit Born To Run, it contains more than ample doses of the lively spirit, youthful enthusiasm, and endearing optimism that made Bruce Springsteen not only a household name, but the epitome of the American experience.
