Various - The Showband Special album
The Carlton Showband is a Canadian musical group of the Irish genre. Formed in Brampton, Ontario in November 1963, the band initially named themselves the Carlton Danceband in reference to Toronto's Carlton Street where Maple Leaf Gardens was located. The initial recording lineup included 5 musicians from Ireland: Chris O'Toole (leader), Christy McLaughlin, Mike Feeney, Seamus Grew, Sean McManus, and Fred White (the lone Canadian, from Nova Scotia). By their second album release, Irishmen Johnny Ferguson and Mitch McCoy were added. McCoy departed after 2 years, replaced by Bob Lewis.

The Irish Showband Collection. The showband boom in Ireland is something that's difficult to explain at this late date. It grew out of a combination of a young, restless population, and a nation where television had not yet arrived, as late as 1960, which helped keep dance halls as a booming business seven nights of the week
The Miami Showband were an Irish showband in the 1960s and 1970s led by singer Dickie Rock and later by Fran O'Toole. They had seven number one records on the Irish singles chart. Band members Fran O'Toole, Tony Geraghty, and Brian McCoy were killed in the Miami Showband killings in 1975 during The Troubles when returning from a performance in County Down, Northern Ireland.
The Showband Special. More of a pop collection than a showband album, this was actually a sampler for the Tribune Records label run by Dublin impresario Noel Pearson. Pearson rose from humble origins to try his hand at many ventures before finding success as manager of beat group The Chessmen. In 1967 he launched his own record label and issued a mixture of pop, beat, showband and folk releases by acts including The Chessmen, Danny Doyle, The Newmen, The Pacific, The Arrivals, The Clipper Carlton, The Sands and The Dubliners
A Catholic and Protestant band from North and South, we defeated sectarianism wherever we played.
