Pink Floyd - On The Turning Away album
Alas, Pink Floyd have produced their last album, 'The Endless River', which means that we all can remember is "light is changing to shadow and casting a shroud over all we have known" of a great band. Justas B from Phoenix Az Usa On The Turning Away is one of those time-transcending Pink Floyd songs. A Platonic Form, if you wish. Dennis from Burbank, Ca "On The Turning away" adresses the people who acknowledge but don't do anything to help improve homelessness, poverty, third world poor, and those who can't help themselves. The first verse states that clearly and requests not to accept it. The second verse states that "light is changing to shadow" - meaning the majority of people are becoming those "turning away" and its a sin that people are less caring of the less fortunate.
On the turning away From the pale and downtrodden And the words they say Which we won’t understand "Don’t accepting that what’s happening It's just a case of others’ suffering Or you’ll find that you’re joining in The turning away". It’s a sin that somehow Light is changing to shadow And casting its shroud Over all we have known Unaware how the ranks have grown Driven on by a heart of stone We could find that we’re all alone In the dream of the proud. On the wings of the night As the daytime is stirring Where the speechless unite In a silent accord.
The last Pink Floyd studio album, The Endless River (2014), was recorded without Waters and based almost entirely on unreleased material. David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Richard Wright, Roger Waters, Syd Barrett
On the Turning Away" is a song from Pink Floyd's 1987 album, A Momentary Lapse of Reason. The song was a staple of live shows from the 1987–89 world tours in support of A Momentary Lapse of Reason and was one of the songs in rotation during the 1994 tour in support of The Division Bell. The song was resurrected by David Gilmour on his 2006 On an Island Tour for one night only. Live recordings exist on Delicate Sound of Thunder (1988) and Live in Gdansk (2008).
