Roger Meddows Taylor (born 26 July 1949) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and t, best known as the drummer for the rock band Queen. As a drummer, Taylor was recognised early in his career for his unique sound. He was voted by radio listeners as the eighth-greatest drummer in classic rock music history in a poll conducted by Planet Rock in 2005.
19 July 1947, that's a really big day for the pop-world. On that day in the small town of Twickenham in England, one of the world's greatest guitarists of all times, Mr Brian May was born. His mother Ruth says that he in the beginning wanted to be a surgeon, but Brian himself has no memory of that. But one thing is certain, already in the early years you could see that he was going to be a great musician.
Roger Taylor was born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, on July 26th 1949, Roger became fascinated with music in the early 50s, when his family moved to Cornwall. In 1968 Roger formed another group, Smile, with Middlesex guitar ace Brian May. Smile played sporadically over the next few years and even issued a single in the United States. By 1971, Roger had long abandoned any desire to become a dentist or a biologist, and with new additions to the line-up John Deacon and Freddie Mercury, Smile became known as Queen.
